Robina Interchange Upgrade
Pacific Motorway, Gold Coast

Work undertaken on the project includes:

  • A cut and fill operation of 40,000m3 in a 16m deep cut with a two stage batter, for a sub
    grade formation
  • Ground Surface Treatment as preparation for sub base
  • Construction and maintenance of water quality and spill containment basins

The work is being carried out as a subcontract to Probuild Civil (QLD) Pty Ltd

South Mackay Industrial Subdivision Earthworks
Mackay, Central Queensland

Work undertaken on the project includes:

  • Placement and compaction of 115,000m3 of imported fill material
  • Excavation and disposal off site of unsuitable material

The work is being carried out as a subcontract to Probuild Civil (QLD) Pty Ltd

Milton Road Flood Damage Cleanup
Brisbane

This was a project undertaken after the disastrous floods hit Brisbane in January 2011.

Work undertaken on the project included:

  • Removal of flood debris and silt from open
    drains and culverts
  • Disposal of the contaminated material off site

The work was carried out as a subcontract to Transpacific Industries Group

Thagoona Six Lot Subdivision
Ipswich

Work undertaken on the project included:

  • Construction of a silt retention basin
  • Earthworks and pavement construction for the internal roads
  • Installation of stormwater drainage and water reticulation
  • Levelling and preparation of the house blocks

The work was carried out as a subcontract CLA Consulting

New Mother Teresa School Earthworks
Ormeau, Gold Coast

Work undertaken on the project included:

  • Construction of a bio-retention basin, including the installation of the slotted pipe network and filter media
  • Construction of an internal car park
  • Upgrading of existing Council roads and a bus stop lane
  • Bulk earthworks to the pads for class rooms
    and school office buildings

The work was carried out as a subcontract to Herron Coorey Building Contractors

Clem 7 Tunnel
Gibbon Street Access Shaft Backfill - Brisbane

This was a project for the backfilling of the access shaft that was used for the removal of the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM's).

Work undertaken on the project included:

  • The placement and compaction of 12,000m3 of restricted fill material within the vertical shaft
  • De-stressing of rock anchors as the backfilling operation progressed vertically upwards
  • Remediation and reinstatement of the block after removal of the steel building structures

The work was carried out as a subcontract to the LBBJV

Clem 7 Tunnel
Northern Portal Bulk Excavation - Brisbane

This work followed on from the successful completion of the Shafston Avenue access shaft project. It was named the "Big Dig", and was the area to be used for assembling the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM's) prior to them setting off to tunnel under the Brisbane River.

Time was of essence, as a key to the successful and timely completion of the tunnel was to be able to get the TBM's started as soon as possible.

The work area was very restricted in terms of access and interfacing with other contractors, but working closely with the Principal Contractor's (LBBJV) staff and other contractors resulted in the work being completed on time, with no delay to the
TBM excavation.

Work undertaken on the project included:

  • Excavation of blasted rock material and the placing of blast mats
  • Detailed excavation in rock for concrete walls
  • Haulage and disposal of the excavated rock 95000m3
  • Planning and coordinating activities between
    a number of contractors
  • Traffic Management Planning

The work was carried out as a subcontract to the LBBJV

Clem 7 Tunnel
Shafston Avenue Access and Ventilation Shaft - Brisbane

This was one of the first sections of work undertaken on the iconic Clem 7 Tunnel project.

The project was completed on time, without incident and with high recommendations from all parties involved.

Work undertaken on the project included:

  • Demolition and clearing of existing concrete foundations and trees
  • Disposal of unsuitable material
  • Site preparation and the importation and placement of road base materials
  • Installation of a precast element retaining wall, including backfilling
  • Construction of core-filled block retaining walls; and formwork and concreting of cantilever walls for the access shaft
  • Installation of 2400 high precast concrete box culverts for ventilation to the tunnel
  • Construction of concrete haulage roads, a wheel wash bay and slabs for site offices and amenities
  • All relevant Quality Assurance testing

The work was carried out as a subcontract to the LBBJV

Relocation of Preload Material and General Earthworks for Berth 10
Port of Brisbane

Work undertaken on the project included:

  • Excavation, loading, hauling and placement
    of 500,000m3 of white sand preload material
  • Trimming to strict tolerances of extensive
    areas of the batters and top levels of the preloaded areas
  • Reclaiming, storing and spreading of brown
    sand (for erosion protection) on the exposed horizontal and sloping faces of the preloaded areas
  • Construction of access roads for future wharf contractors, including compaction of the white sand to a minimum 100% density index
  • Construction of a hardstand pile fabrication
    yard for the assembly of the steel pile casings
    to be used in the construction of Wharf 10

This project is one of a number that have been undertaken for the Port of Brisbane Corporation in association with Probuild Civil (QLD) Pty Ltd (formerly Basic Construction Services), with whom we have had a strong working relationship for over 10 years.
